Product details
The RCM blue Doppler current meter is used for self capacitive measurement of ocean currents. It is sturdy and durable, and can communicate and download data through Bluetooth. The instrument uses a true vector averaging sensor for measuring flow velocity and direction, which can be used with both seawater and freshwater. The battery capacity is 70A. | ![]() |

The Doppler current meter adopts the backscattering acoustic Doppler principle, which has two orthogonal sensor axes with two sensors on each axis. This enables bidirectional measurement on each sensor axis, and by activating the forward measurement function, the interference of eddy currents around the sensor and anchor chain can be greatly reduced. After enabling the forward measurement function, only one sensor on each axis simultaneously sends acoustic pulses and receives acoustic pulse reflection signals from particles, thereby measuring the orthogonal velocity components of the X-axis and Y-axis. After tilt compensation, the horizontal velocity component is obtained. By measuring the velocity vectors of the X-axis and Y-axis and calculating the orientation of the built-in solid-state electronic compass, the velocity components in the north and east directions are calculated. After multiple measurements are averaged, the flow velocity and direction are output.
Another significant advantage of the instrument is the use of advanced ZPulse technology, which improves the statistical accuracy of measurements. Complex acoustic pulse technology contains different frequencies in a single pulse. Divide the received signal into different frequency bands, and transmit each frequency band as a pulse signal to the processor. Use a high-speed digital processor and an ARMA parameter model algorithm to analyze the changes in Doppler frequency. This multi frequency technology reduces the number of pulses while achieving the required accuracy. In a measurement cycle, the measurement accuracy of the instrument is proportional to the reciprocal of the square of the pulse frequency. The ZPulse technology Doppler current meter uses dual frequency pulses, which can reduce the number of pulses to half of a single frequency when achieving the required measurement accuracy, greatly extending the battery life or shortening the measurement cycle with the same battery life, and obtaining more data.
